Dear Friends,

Children are our most precious resource. By investing in their health and well-being, we impact the quality of their future in the most positive and direct way. For that reason, Children’s Memorial Hospital has launched an historic effort to advance the level of care we can offer Chicago’s children.

Heroes for Life: Campaign for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is guided by individuals who care deeply about the health and well-being of children. Together, we are transforming pediatric medicine and science in Chicago. Lurie Children’s will rise on the campus of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, next to Prentice Women’s Hospital and in close proximity to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Together these institutions will form a nucleus of world-class medical excellence and create an unprecedented resource for our city and the region.

In our new location, we will be able to draw as never before on the expertise of specialists in every field, of adult as well as children’s medicine. Lurie Children’s will also enable us to enhance that expertise, attracting new leaders to our staff of renowned pediatric specialists and nurses. They will have at their disposal the most advanced technology and will work in a setting designed specifically to address the most difficult medical challenges that threaten the well-being of children.

Lurie Children’s will be a place that helps children and families heal together. Space, amenities and convenience will be its hallmarks, and no detail has been overlooked in enhancing the environment of personal care that has been our hallmark for more than 125 years.

Our plan is inspired by the heroism of our staff who work miracles everyday and the strength of our young patients and their families. On our new Heroes for Life campaign Web site, you will get to know many of these talented and courageous individuals. I sincerely hope they inspire you to join us and become a hero as well.
