Creating the children’s hospital of the future
Rendering as of September 2008 More than a century ago, Julia Foster Porter and a group of pioneering Chicagoans created a hospital exclusively focused on the care of children. Today, with that same vision, Children’s Memorial Hospital has embarked on the most important journey in its history.
The creation of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago will reshape the delivery of care for future generations of children. Named in recognition of Ann Lurie’s historic $100 million transformational gift, the new facility will house the very best pediatric care and innovative research in an environment designed for 21st-century medicine.
The hospital will be located on the campus of our renowned teaching, medical and research partners, including Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and its new Prentice Women’s Hospital, and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. This proximity will bring together an unprecedented level of expertise, offering stellar opportunities for collaboration not only in clinical care but also in research and education.
