12th Annual Step Up for Kids

Event Information

Packet Pickup will be available at the Aon Center, 200 East Randolph, at the lobby level on the following dates:

  • Thursday January 28th 11am-2pm
  • Friday January 29th 4pm-7pm
  • Saturday January 30th 11am-3pm

Date/Time: Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 8:00 a.m.

Location: Aon Center, 200 East Randolph Street. Please enter the building from the Randolph Street/South side. If you are standing at street level, you will need to walk down the stairs to locate the main entrance into the building.

Start Time: Start times will be assigned and posted on the event website on Tuesday, January 26th. Please note that once bibs/chips are assigned, we cannot re-assign start times. Please plan on arriving at least 1/2 hour prior to your assigned start time.

Gear Check: There will be a complimentary, secured gear check at the Aon Center monitored by volunteers. Each stepper is required to check all gear, as personal items are not allowed past the main lobby of the event. No cameras or cell phones are allowed in the stairwell. Your gear will be checked according to your bib number. We cannot be responsible for any lost or stolen items, so please do not check anything of value. Gear check will be located in Café 200.

Guests: Friends and Family of steppers are welcome to attend the event. Guests must remain in the lower lobby and are required to check all gear (including coats and purses). Guests will not be allowed on the 80th Floor.

Parking:

Option #1

Through the Chicago Police Department, we have arranged free parking at non-meter spots only on the following streets:

  • Upper Level Randolph from Michigan to Harbor Drive, north curb only
  • Upper Level Columbus from Randolph to South Water, west curb only

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PLACE THE GREEN STEP UP FOR KIDS PARKING PASS IN THEIR WINDOW. ( Printable Parking Pass ) Please note that you must print this document in full color in order for it to be valid. You will not be ticketed as long as you have the parking pass in the window and you do not park in a designated handicap area, in front of a fire hydrant, driveway, loading dock, cross walk or bus stop. Even if you have the parking pass, you will be ticketed if you park in these areas.

Option #2

Discounted parking will be available in the Aon Center Parking Garage, located at Lower Lake and Columbus for $6.00 until 3:00 p.m.

  • From Michigan Avenue turn East onto Lake (just south of Wacker)
  • Turn left (North) onto Stetson Street
  • From Stetson, turn right (East) onto South Water
  • Go East one block to Columbus
  • Make a sharp left U-turn and go down the ramp to the first stop sign
  • Make another left at the stop sign
  • Veer left and follow signs to the AON Center parking garage
  • Park on level 4 or 5 and take elevators up to the lobby

Public Transportation: The Wabash & Randolph stop is the closest stop to the Aon Center (Brown and Purple El lines)

Water: Available for all participants on floors 10, 21, 30, 40, 52, 62, 72 and 80. Water will also be available at the event food court located on the mezzanine level of the main lobby.

Facilities: Available for all participants on floors 10, 21, 30, 40, 52, 62, 72 and 80. There is also a public restroom for participants and guests in the lower lobby.

Medical: An advanced life support ambulance will be on site for the duration of the event.

Bib Number & Timing Chip: Please pin your participant number on the FRONT of your clothing. Your timing chip instructions are included in this packet.

Post-Climb Party: Following your climb, enjoy complimentary food and beverages, live music performed by Spakl and a spectacular view of the city at the Mid-America Club Finish Line Celebration, located on the 80th floor. From the top, each stepper will take the elevator down to the Mezzanine level to enjoy more complimentary food and beverages at our food court, then make their way down to the Main Lobby of the Aon Center to meet up with friends and family. Don’t miss out on fun for the whole family at our Kids Corner!

Additional Onsite Food & Beverage Amenities: In addition to the complimentary food and beverages that will be available to all participants at the event food court, Café 200 will be open for business for the enjoyment of all our guests the day of the event. Café 200 will be open from 7:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. and will offer light breakfast and lunch items for purchase.

Donations: All money raised for must be received by Sunday, January 31, 2010 to qualify for incentive prizes. Please turn in donations on event day at the registration table.

Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top three females and male finishers. These prizes will be mailed post event.

Incentive Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top individual fundraiser as well as to the winner of the Team Challenge. Prize notification letters will be mailed post-event to the address provided at the time of registration.
